Notes: What can we say except it was New Years Eve! Sold out crowd of party people who supplied the lovely ambient noise surrouding this show, including party favors that you can hear throughout the entire recording. This one clocks in at a whopping 4.5+ hrs ... granted we didn't start right when the audio began, and we took two breaks...but yeah, if you want to relive an epic set full of many cover songs and jams as we closed out 2011 and into 2012 this will be fun for you.

Notes: Ian Moore (guitar) and Andrew Vait (saxophone) sat in on with us this night on a couple jams! We were in the back room of the Croc, which is actually really nice in comparison to many other clubs around the country. Into by Liam, the Kiwi doorman. Made the mistake of putting the recorder near the merch table/front door area so you can hear some funny exchanges from Eric Tollefson pimping our album. We didn't get any food or drinks in our deal with this club - pretty lame considering the way Europeans take care of the artist. The promotion for this date was also very spotty and last minute. Some good friends showed up and also, strangely, a European presence - Kiwi, Scots, UK...heard 'em all because I had to RUN THE DOOR.

Notes: Front of house sound by Stevie @ Dantes. Matt breaks "D" string towards the end of first song, whole guitar goes out of tune. Stevie puts on music but the guys start a drum and bass version of Jake's Pants...Matt comes in sometime after his string is replaced and finishes the song out. Zach Boes joins us on tambourine and extra percussion on "Hot Mama" and stays through the end of the show.

Notes: Eric Tollefson opened the night with a splendid set assisted by the able Gabe on the guitar; his smouldering single "Before You Go" was the apex of their relatively short opening set. We were on around 10:05 p.m. or so from what I remember. I was fed an amazing Chef salad and some delicious kettle corn. We decided to wing the setlist for the first time on the tour. The beginning of the concert was upbeat and poppy save for a few psychadelic jams here and there...par for the course on a Saturday night in Bend. Good crowd, dancers seemed to really be enjoying themselves and the music. Willzilla comes out around 36:40 and rips a solo on "Feels Like Home". We did a few covers that night, we never rehearsed the Steve Miller song before but it's exactly the same chords as the Tom Petty song we do so I like to bounce back and forth in between them for fun, but tonight I saved the Petty song for later in the night. Wolf Eyes sounded pretty good tonight, got people up and dancing hard. Bryan takes a well deserved pee 1 hr 13 min into the concert. Ok, maybe we played too many covers? Garf thinks so. Still trying to nail my own way of singing "Dreams" by Fleetwood Mac. Three cheers for Joey Ramone was fun tonight. After Ace, I was exhausted and ended the concert. Couple cries of encore but there wasn't much energy left. Went to an afterparty where I met a hip hopper and an old timey rockabilly band while giving into the jalepeno flavored Sun Chips, I also started a fire in the backyard with some other people. Oh, we were pulled over by Bend Police Department leaving the Silver Moon. The female officer told me I was speeding 41 in a 25. I told her we were from out of town and weren't aware of the speed limit. She said she was looking for drunks and we didn't look drunk so she let us go. Josh Hart, a Bend musician, made us a killer breakfast and took us on a sweet walk before heading to Ashland.

Notes: Alex's has a two story load in up two flights of stairs, workout on the way up and the way down. They made us a killer pasta / salad dinner and had some decadenct chocolate cake for dessert. Sound guy, John, was super nice and ran great sound for us...laid back Sunday night crowd that seemed to enjoy it. We got some people dancing. Success. Super long intro. Shakey start on vocals. With some of these newer songs (and ever quite a few older ones) I am taking extreme liberties with my vocal style in order to find the best match of melody for what will eventually be my next studio record. In a way, I'm working things out onstage every night with myself depending on mood, level of energy, and most importantly how my voice feels going into a concert. Slow jam sundays. The next day, I find out a former A&R rep for Polydor Records was at the show. Her quick bits - loves the guitar, not sold on the vocals. I guess my vocals are an accquired taste? I'd love some vocal criticism from my fellow musicians. Song placement in our nightly sets is probably key for me in building up an audience's appreciation for some of my better songs before allowing my appetite for creativity in vocals scares them off too soon. You also gotta realize there are only three guys on that stage. No back up singers. No keyboards. No lights. Just three dudes playing songs on a stage somewhere on Earth. Anyway, back to the set. Any requests? Ah yes, the first appearance of "Our Love Is So Soft" with this lineup...extended jam intro...and I sang the verses in the wrong places, ha ha.

Notes: We weren't expecting much in Mt. Shasta on a Monday night but it ended up being one of the funnest night of the tour so far! Big thanks to Shastafarian Entertainment for promoting our gig and getting people to show up - people that once they started dancing never stopped. After two solid sets we played a 3rd one late in the night with lots of jams and covers. We then proceeded to max relax for 48 hours in Mt. Shasta - total recharge.
